John A. Brinkley, BCO, BADO

 

John has been providing ocular prosthetic care in Central Texas since 1997. He is a board certified ocularist (BCO) through the National Examining Board of Ocularists and a Board Approved Diplomate of the American Society of Ocularists (BADO). Additionally, John is a Certified Dental Technologist through the National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology. 

He has over 20 years of experience in custom ocular prosthetics, addressing all aspects of proper fitting and fabrication for direct patient care. John's dental technician experience of over 30 years is in construction of removable and fixed prosthetic and orthodontic appliances. 

John served in the United States Army where he graduated from the Academy of Health Sciences at Fort Sam Houston. Following his military service, he trained as an ocularist apprentice under Tom McCollum, BCO at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, TX. Upon Tom's retirement in 1997, John took over as the ocularist at Scott & White Hospital for 12 years. He has continued providing ocular prosthetic care in Temple since that time and has opened his own practice, Ocular Prosthetic Designs.

Providing ocular services around the world...

John is passionate about serving others and using his gifts and talents not only at home in Central Texas, but also through mission work. While partnering with a missionary, he provided yearly ocular services in Mexico from 2002-2010. In 2012, he co-founded Prosthetic Promises In His Name, a non-profit organization focused on providing prosthetic, ocular prosthetic, and orthotic services in areas that have little access to this type of healthcare. The current focus of Prosthetic Promises is in Zambia, Africa.

Maria is the office manager at Ocular Prosthetic Designs. She has worked in the eye care business for over 29 years. Maria is married with 6 children and 8 grandchildren and has been a lifelong resident in Temple. She loves dogs, cats and loves dancing and traveling with her husband.

Ocular Prosthetic Designs is located just 1 mile north of Baylor Scott & White Hospital on 31st Street in Temple, Texas. Convenient access from both Baylor Scott & White Hospital and the V.A. Hospital in Temple.
